  3. This document describes the changes in Rel. 2 of the SatisFAXtion/400
  4. software.
  5.  
  6. WHAT'S CHANGED IN THIS UPDATE
  7. =============================

  9. DOWNLOAD.400 (Version 3.02)
  10.  
  11. * Fixes most problems where the board emits a clicking sound and/or no 
  12.   dialtone is received when the downline phone is picked up.  (When
  13.   using the "mostly voice calls" or "mostly fax calls" options.)
  14.   
  15.   Version 3.02 fixes these problems with most phones, however, there are 
  16.   some phones (including several Panasonic multi-feature phones) which 
  17.   still do not get a dialtone when plugged into the SatisFAXtion board.  
  18.   This is because these phones have relatively high impedance compared to 
  19.   other phones.  The SatisFAXtion board has a current-sense circuit which 
  20.   is used to detect when the phone goes off-hook.  Current generated when 
  21.   the phone goes off-hook trips a relay on the board, enabling the phone.  
  22.   If the phone's impedance is higher than "normal", then there is not 
  23.   enough current generated to trip this relay and the phone remains
  24.   disabled (no dialtone occurs).  The only solution to this problem is 
  25.   to try using a different brand/model of phone.

  27. * Fixes problems with Smart Line Sharing where the board picks up and 
  28.   listens for fax tone even when fax autoanswer is turned off.  This caused 
  29.   the board to interfere with some answering machines.  The board no longer
  30.   listens for fax tones when the fax autoanswer is turned off.

  32. * Fixes various data modem problems, including problems connecting with 
  33.   2400bps modems.

  38. To install the file DOWNLOAD.400, simply copy DOWNLOAD.400 into your
  39. fax directory.  Once you have the file copied into your fax directory,
  40. you will need to reboot your system.
